It is almost indescribable the great and wonderful things the Lord has accomplished through Chosen People in 2016. The great missionary William Carey once said, “Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God.” There is no doubt that every year we plan to attempt great things for our Lord and with these plans we are always expecting the Lord to bless our work. However, God has always exceeded our expectations in how He chooses to carry out His kingdom purposes through Chosen People. 2016 was no different. Whether it was training pastoral leaders, mobilizing and facilitating the work of missionaries, or drilling wells, the Lord’s steadfast love and faithfulness was ever present with Chosen People. I would like to take a moment to reflect on all that the Lord has accomplished through Chosen People in 2016.
We added new training centers to our pastoral training initiative, bringing the total number of current training centers to 14. This means that on a monthly basis, we are traveling to 250 pastoral leaders and providing them with theological training.
We added two pastoral trainers to our national team of trainers. We now have a national team consisting of 5 pastoral trainers.
We expanded our pastoral training initiative into a second country. Earlier in the year we were invited to provide theological training to pastoral leaders of a Baptist association in Southern Mexico.
We began a safe water project in Guatemala. This project has been developing over the past 18 months; however, in October the Lord prepared the way for us to begin our well-drilling activities. In the last three months of this year we were able to drill 3 wells, thus providing 3 communities with greater access to safe water.
Strategic Church Partnerships
We forged two new strategic church partnerships bringing the total number of strategic church partnerships to 3. Together, these strategic partnerships commissioned 3 short-term mission teams for service throughout Guatemala.
We gained 2 missionary units. One unit will focus its time on our pastoral training initiative while the other unit will focus its time on our well-drilling efforts.
There is no doubt that the Lord has been good to us. First, we praise Him for His faithfulness and goodness to His people around the globe. And secondly, we would like to thank all those who have prayerfully and financially supported our ministry. Yes, indeed it is the Lord who has done great and mighty works, yet He chooses to use His chosen people to carry out good works that He has prepared for us beforehand. And so we give God all the glory for those whom He has led to support this ministry whether through prayer, financial gifts, or field service.
My prayer is that the Lord will continue to bless you as you seek first His righteousness and kingdom purposes. I also pray that the Lord will continue to raise up people to join us in this Christ-centered and mission-focused kingdom work. For “we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into His wonderful light” (1 Pet. 2:9, NIV).
As this year comes to an end, please consider giving to Chosen People to make 2017 our biggest year of ministry yet.
